Lioness Gives Male A Real Earful After Dad Lion Tries To Punish Cub For Biting His Tail

For good reason, he is known as the “King of Animals.” The majestic lion is nothing short of intimidating, with his imposing mane and incredible roar. However, based on the images below, we can clearly see that a lioness is in charge here. At least, not in this family!

A family of lions at the Washington National Zoological Park experienced some drama. The reason was a simple play fight between the father lion and one of his rambunctious cubs. Things got out of hand, and the mother had to step in to calm everyone down. We’ve never seen a lion male toe the line in front of a lioness like this dad. Jennifer Lockridge, a 42-year-old amateur photographer, captured the hilarious scenes in a series of photos.

When the tiny cub simply grabbed his father’s tail and bit it, the massive lion wanted to teach it a lesson, but he ended up being the one who was schooled by his soulmate. The lioness – who, we must admit, had a bit of a temper – had severely rebuked her male after his attempt to punish the cub.

Lockridge, who has been visiting the zoo on a regular basis, especially to admire the lion family, was in the right place at the right time to capture this heated argument on camera. It had been a relatively calm day in the lion enclosure until the mischievous cub Lusaka bit the father’s Luke tail.

“I thoroughly enjoyed watching this interaction, especially since Luke has only recently been allowed to interact with his cub,” Lockridge said. “The Wildlife Refuge has a lion pride of seven cubs from two mothers, and Luke is the father of all the cubs. “As the cubs have grown braver, they approach Luke easily, wanting to engage him in play. ‘I don’t think he realized she was biting his tail, and he didn’t seem too bothered.’ Lusaka has a habit of biting the tails of both her siblings and adults.”
